Banjo Prize shortlistees Natasha and A'mhara chat with a publisher.
When I was shortlisted for HarperCollins Australia's Banjo prize for emerging fiction writers in 2023 for my manuscript, The Sister Tree, the cream on the cake was being shortlisted alongside the delightful and talented A'Mhara McKey, a fellow member of our incredible writing group, the ALLWRiTECLUB. A'Mhara writes atmospheric novels filled with mystery and romance, and lives in Darwin with her family.
After we were shortlisted, HarperCollins Australia's lovely fiction publisher Anna Valdinger interviewed us both about what it was like to be shortlisted, the beauty and benefits of being in a writing group, and how to best set one up.
